About

My name is Jeroen Chua, and I'm a second year Master's student at the University of Toronto, currently supervised by Professor Brendan Frey. I'm interested in computer vision, machine learning, human learning, and human visual perception. I work primarily on generative models for vision. I also collaborate with Professor David Fleet on motion tracking and human pose estimation problems.

Humour

Q: Why are machine learning researchers confused about having to pay for gas and electricity?
A: They're used to seeing free energy!

Q: What did the non-informative prior say to the likelihood?
A: I don't know!

Q: Why do Bayesians have more success in dating than frequentists?
A: Bayesians have posteriors, while frequentists have none to speak of!

Q: Where do non-parametric Bayesians like to eat?
A: Indian buffets and Chinese restaurants!

Q: What is an environmently-friendly Bayesian's favourite inference algorithm to drive?
A: Hybrid monte carlo!
