I am currently doing graduate studies under the supervision of Brendan Frey at the University of Toronto. My research interests include bioinfomatics, computer vision, and machine learning. My primary focus is the study of global properties of alternative splicing in higher eukaryotes using microarray and sequence data. I am particularly interested in the use of graphical models and Bayesian inference in the study of computational biology using non-conventional noise models. I have used the Expectation Maximization algorithm, variational approximations, and Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods in my research, as well as discriminative models for supervised learning.

Non-Academic Interests

To keep myself busy when I am not doing research, I spend time with my wife Leslie and my adorable daughter Ma'ayan. I also keep active playing ultimate, mostly with my team, Floppy Discs, and the Toronto Ultimate Club, and I enjoy going to the Gardiner Museum to make pottery. I keep a fairly well updated picture archive of my family and hobbies here.
